Guys -- there are some things you just don't discuss with your buddies, right? -- like waxing. But we bet you've got some burning questions when it comes to getting smooth in places that normally aren't. Well you're in luck because I have answers, as well as a few tips. After all, more men than ever want to be well groomed - just ask the Situation. I know you're curious about the pain level that comes with waxing -- YES -- I'm going to say it your crack and sack. Who wouldn't be? But don't worry; it's not as bad as it sounds, as long as you've got some threshold for pain, which I'm sure you do. The first thing you'll want to do is grow out your hair to at least an eighth of an inch in length. After you've gotten good and bushy it's time to start exfoliating the area. Why do you need to lather up like the ladies with apricot scrub you ask? It's an important step to get rid of excess oils and dead skin that could get in the way of a clean wax. Next up apply an antiseptic cleanser to kill any lingering germs. For your nether regions, the aesthetician will use a hard wax, which unlike strip wax, grabs the hair without peeling away the skin and is infused with calming antioxidants . And, since your pubic hair is extra coarse, she'll pull the scrotum and perineum skin taunt, raising the hair up so the wax can fully latch on. This will dull the pain and in about 20 minutes you'll be as smooth as baby boys bottom! The results should last about 3-6 weeks. And as for immediate aftercare -- exfoliate! You don't want to develop ingrown hairs, especially since they can lead to painful tiny pimples or other infections. Also avoid tanning, exercising and sex, for the first 2-3 days. But waxing isn't just about appearances. Having a clean, well groomed pubic area helps to reduce perspiration, skin irritation AND clogged pores from matted, bacteria-filled hair. Yes, that can happen.Even though you'll most likely be visiting a salon or spa there's still a margin for error. Tearing and burning could occur and ingrown hairs can appear, since pubic hair has tendency to grow in various directions in one spot. And don't be shy -- clear any concerns with your doctor and discuss any medical conditions with the salon professional beforehand.
